Hazel Haley Lawrey

Hazel Haley Lawrey, 93, of Martinsville, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Blue Ridge Rehab Center, where she was a resident. She was born in Axton, Virginia, December 26, 1919 to Lafayette Pleasant Haley and Leanora Willis Haley. She retired from the D. C. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C after 40 years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Alan Lawrey.

She is survived by one son, Stephen Alan Lawrey and wife, Linda of Martinsville;

one brother, Wilbert Haley and wife, Vera of Axton; one granddaughter, Melissa N. Kiernan and husband, Brian; two great-grandchildren, Bradyn and Regan Kiernan and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 12 Noon at Roselawn Burial Park with the Rev. Michael Jordan officiating.

The family will receive friends today from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Community Funeral Services in Ridgeway.
