OBITUARY
Herbert Hoover Thompson
3 April, 1929 – 21 April, 2013
Herbert Hoover “Hoogie” Thompson, 84, of 110 Cemetery Street, Martinsville died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. He was born April 3, 1929 in Meadows of Dan, to the late James Taylor Thompson and Annie Burnett Thompson. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict He was retired after twenty five years with Richardson-White Cadillac as a repair man. He was a member of Clearview Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Lucille Thompson, two sons, Buddy Akers and James “Jim” Thompson, two sisters, Beatrice Smith and Goldie McAlexander, six brothers, John, Elzideen, Quinton, Layman, James and Raymond Thompson.
Surviving are four daughters and Sons-in-law, Patricia Akers Hayzlett and husband Tommy of Martinsville, Anna “Sue” Draper of Martinsville, Beverly “Snook” Harris and husband George of Stuart and Donna L. Martin of Martinsville, one brother, Henry Thompson of Willis, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in cooperation with Community Funeral Service of Ridgeway;
1:00 P.M. Wednesday April 24, 2013 in the chapel of McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends
Tuesday April 23, 2013 6-8P.M. in the chapel of McKee-Stone Funeral Home and other times at the home.
