

.Thomas Ray Crowder, 72, of Axton, died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Pawhatan, West Virginia, on December 5, 1942 to the late Doris Crowder and Maggie Anderson Crowder. He retired after more than twenty years of service as a carpenter with Ridgeway Clock, was a member of the Irisburg United Methodist Church, former member for more than twenty years with the Irisburg Ruritan Club and a member of the ARC both of Virginia and North Carolina.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Billy Gene Crowder and two brothers, Fonzy Hampton Crowder and James Anderson.
Surviving are his wife of forty nine years, Shirley Harris Crowder of the home, two son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie Lee, Jr. Crowder and wife Hazel B. , and Timothy Ray Crowder both of Axton, one brother, William Lee Crowder of Connecticut, three grandchildren, Brandi Nicole Crowder, Kristie Leigh Crowder and Jimmie Lee Crowder, Jr.
The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 18, 2015, in the Community Funeral Service Chapel of Ridgeway.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 19, 2015, in the Community Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Anne Sisson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
