
Morehead Nursing Center, Eden, NC. She was born September 16, 1914 in Henry County to the late Pinkney Watt and Kate
Overton Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Beverly “Jim” Clifton, a daughter,
Leah Clifton Clifton, a brother, Howard Smith, a sister, Mary Smith Scott, two nieces, Nancy Scott Dodson and Vickie Hall
Hancock, and a nephew, Tommy Scott. She finished Ridgeway High School in the 1930’s she retired from Lacy
Manufacturing and was a charter member of Smith Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ruth and Jerry “Joe” Anderson of Claudville, one son and daughter-in-law,
James Pinkney “Jim” and Marlyn Clifton of Axton, three sisters, Hope Scott of Ridgeway, Ethel Ward and Marie Hall both of
Martinsville six grandchildren, three step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and
nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2011, at the Smith Memorial Pentecostal Holiness
Church with Reverend Barry Crumpton officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to
services.
