Now almost 6 years have passed since you left us. Some days pass hard with the thought of you. Your grandchildren are slowly becoming teenagers and often ask about you. I hope that we will see each other again soon at the place where you may shine as pure as the sun. In love and thoughts Trish and kids 

I only came online to see if there existed a nice clear picture of Mylene that I could download, print, and glue into my journal. Instead, I stumbled onto this sad news. I must admit I was not entirely shocked because as I placed flowers on Mylene's grave last Memorial Day, I noticed a fairly fresh grave right next to her's. My immediate thought was, "Oh no, please don't let this be her mother." My worst suspicion is sadly now confirmed. I regret that I never had the privilege to meet her in person. However, on October 10, 1997, I was rousted from sleep by the phone and answered in a daze. It was Annelore Zalar, Mylene's mom. "Are you alright?" she asked. Imagine, this poor grieving   mother was asking ME if I was alright when it should have been the other way around. She thanked me for the card and that was the only time I ever spoke to her. I am sure that meeting her in person would have been pleasant but at the same time an extremely upsetting experience. Her passing brings back the same terrible melancholy that hung over me for years after Mylene's death. It is 1997 all over again. Next Memorial Day, I shall bring two flower bouquets to the cemetery. I really do not have the right to grieve so deeply over a virtual stranger but I feel really raw right now. Rest in peace with your beloved daughter, nice lady.

Mrs. Zalar was the perfect wife and mother. I first met her when I started dating her daughter 23 years ago this month. Thank you, Mrs. Zalar, for all of your kindness.
