Emerita Neff (Emmie) was born in Tapilon, Cebu in the Philippines. Her grandfather had a farm and when Emmie was a young teenager she would go to Cebu City to sell produce. With her earnings she would go to the movie theatre. She loved to go and watch American movies. This was the start of her love and aspiration to some day live in the United States.
She had an opportunity to go to Manila to learn dressmaking and tailoring which in turn became her career and later became her business.
After she graduated dressmaking school, she met Fred Neff who was in the military at Clark A.B. They fell in love and married. Fred adopted Emmie’s daughter, Susanna and shortly after marriage, Beverly was born. Emmie’s dream of America came to fruition as they were transferred to a military base in Duluth MN. Ray was born in Duluth.
The Neff family lived the military life and travelled to many places every 2-3 years. Finally in 1976, the family settled close to March A.B. in what was known as Sunnymead, Calif.
Emmie continued her career working at C&R Clothiers for over 20 years. She also had a side business called Valley Custom Tailoring.
Emmie’s life was full of adventure. When she put her mind to something she did it well. She loved to bowl (180 plus average) and later in life loved to golf (she had a hole in one). She was good at both. Emmie also played poker and cards very, very, well. Her laugh and smile was infectious and everyone loved her cooking. She will be so missed by many but especially by her kids-Susanna, Ray and Beverly. Her Son in law-, Scott. Her Grandkids- Brandon, Kyler, Alyssa, Rebekah and Blake and finally her Great-Grandkids- Madix, Brooklyn, Irie and Lyric.
