Ethel Marie Holmes

Ethel Marie Flax Holmes was the only child to Charlie and Robbie Flax. Ethel was born on August 10, 1939 in Handsboro, Mississippi; she crossed over to the eternal at 1:47 AM on Monday, June 19, 2017. She was 77-years old.

The Catholic Church played an integral role in Ethel’s life. She attended Our Lady of Sorrows High School where she met her beloved, husband-to-be Leroy Holmes. Ethel and Leroy married at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Gulfport, Mississippi on June 4, 1957. The happy couple celebrated 60 wonderful years together. Ethel was also a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Ethel is survived by her husband Leroy Holmes; her five children (Leritta Dicus, Michael (Shelia) Holmes, Ronald (Faye Muhammad) Holmes, Robin (Kathy) Holmes-Sullivan, and Cynthia (Allen) Holmes Outlaw); her eight grandchildren (La Tasha, Nathan, Alexis, Asia, Shabazz, Miles, Josh, and Rashad); and her three great-grandchildren (Alexandria, Charlotte and Bentley). The family takes comfort knowing Ethel has reunited with her beloved parents and several relatives and friends in heaven.

Ethel will always be remembered as a woman who loved her family!!! In her final days, Ethel spent Mother’s Day with her daughters in Temecula, saw all of her children, and saw or spoke to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving, determined, giving and respected person. We will miss her greatly.

Memorial Services will all be held at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504. Visitation is Wednesday, July 5th at 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm, followed by Funeral Service at 12:30, followed by Interment at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren, CA 92518.
