La Puente, Ca - The family of Frank DeCosta Jr., 86, is saddened to share the news of his passing on July 27, 2018 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles California. He was born on September 15, 1931, in Honolulu, Hawaii to his parents Frank Sr. and Victoria (Medeiros) DeCosta. As soon as he was of age, Frank decided to join the war effort in Korea and enlisted in the United States Army from 1948-1955. During his Army stint, Frank received a purple heart for an injury he sustained during combat operations in S. Korea. After serving in the Army, Frank moved to sunny California where he met his one and only wife Ana. Frank and Ana recently celebrated their 60thwedding anniversary with family and friends attending. Frank is survived by his lovely wife Ana, brother John DeCosta, sisterJeannette Mejia (Jose), his seven children, James DeCosta(Linda), Diane Stackhouse, Miriam Aurelio (Eric), AdelineOjeda, Frank DeCosta III (Marleen), Susan DeCosta, ErnestDeCosta (Linda); 23 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. Frank also had a long career with the U.S. Postal service as a mailbag handler. Frank really enjoyed camping, telling colorful stories, playing cards, and spending his free time with his family. Frank selflessly dedicated his entire life to supporting his family, never asking much for himself. His family remains grateful for his love and life lessons. Funeral Services will be held at the Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504, Monday, August 13, 2018. Visitation starts at 9:30 AM. Viewing service will be from 9:30-11:30 AM, followed by funeral services from 11:30-12:30 AM. Burial service will start at 1:30 PM. A committal ceremony with full military honors will follow at the Riverside National Cemetery.
