Helen Joan Dunlap was born to Ernestine Campbell Dunlap and Dean Dunlap on March 29, 1930. "Honey" was her parents third born, baby of the family, born in the town of Shoshoni, Wyoming. Honey spent her high-spirited early years in Cheyenne, Wyoming the "Rodeo Capital of the World," as Rodeo Queen. After graduating from High School she attended Whitworth University a private liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in Spokane, Washington. While majoring in Home Economics, Honey met her future husband; a tall, handsome football player named Robert Rolan Rasp. Bob and Honey fell in love and were married in 1951 in Cheyenne, Wyoming for 61 years. The newlyweds settled in the College district of Seattle, Washington where they started their family. Career opportunities, Calvary Presbyterian Church and the beautiful weather brought the young couple and their four daughters; Caron Ann Almquist, Sandra Lynn Skamnes, Anita Jayne Joor and Laura Sue Sanchez to Riverside, California in the early 60's. Honey and Bob immediately joined the "The Beach Comber's Swim Club" which inspired her daughters to swim all through high school. She joined P.E.O. Chapter OH and became a "Golden Girl" where she also made lifelong friends. Honey retired from RUSD as the Principals Secretary at Arlington High School. Honey and her husband enjoyed their duplicate bridge groups, dance clubs, crossword puzzles, reading and vacationing with children and grandchildren in the mountains, beach and Colorado River. Husband Bob, King of Hugs, predeceased Honey in 2012 along with granddaughter Stephannie Skamnes- Hocking. She is survived by her four daughters and son-in-law's Steve Almquist and Bill Joor. Grandchildren Melessa Almquist-Hicks, Clint and Kirk Almquist, Scott Skamnes, Lauren and Veronica Joor, and Timothy, Jonathan and Elizabeth Sanchez. She also has 13 great-grandchildren.
