After retirement, John and Nancy traveled extensively throughout Europe and North America, only missing one state, North Dakota. Their loss.

Chamberlain, John Elmer (Dean), 86, of Garden Grove, California, passed away on August 25, 2016, at home. He was born on July 27, 1930, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska to Elmer and Ella (Lohnes) Chamberlain. His mother died when he was 3 years old, and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, John and Anna Kaffenburger. He joined the Navy, serving three years as a radio repairman, and was discharged at Long Beach, CA, where he moved in with his sister.

John was hired as a sweeper by Douglas Aircraft, Long Beach, retiring from there (now Boeing) after 43 years as Head Flight Engineer. After retirement, he and his wife Nancy enjoyed extensive travels throughout Europe and North America, only missing the state of North Dakota. North Dakota’s loss.

John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy (Dees) Chamberlain and children, Susan Martin (Wayne), and Keith Chamberlain (Shivahn), 2 granddaughters and 3 great grandchildren. H was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley Snyder.

The family will have a private graveside burial. There will be a memorial service at Studebaker Church of Christ, Long Beach on September 10.
