
Joseph or “Joe” was born in Kansas City Missouri October 11, 1935, to Arthur and Christine Bunker and was the oldest of four children. His parents moved to Los Angeles when he was a year old and he grew up in Woodland Hills, Venice Beach, West Covina and Baldwin Park.
As a teenager he loved the beach and barbecues with his friends. He graduated from Covina High School in 1953 while working as head box boy at Crawford’s Market in El Monte. After graduation he joined the Carpenters Union and earned his journeyman’s card. At the age of 19 he married Lois Funston, and they had four children. They moved to Riverside in 1959 and after years working as a carpenter, he became involved in several framing businesses and finished his career working with his sons Joe and Dave. In 2014 he married Evelyn Wright and lived with her in Riverside until he died peacefully in their home.
Joe was an avid sports fan and poker player, he loved playing golf and poker with his friends, singing, listening and dancing to country music with his family, and spoiling his grandkids. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, his sister Linda Prado, his children Joseph Bunker, Diane Lamb, Susie Tustison, and Dave Bunker, 10 grandkids and 11 great grandkids. He was preceded in death by parents Arthur and Christine Bunker, brother Dennis Bunker, and sister Patricia Braybrooks.
