Larry Luong Nguyen

Our hearts are heavy to share the news of the passing of our beloved husband and father Nguyen Van Luong Larry, 82, from medical complications after a short illness. He passed away peacefully on July 31, 2023, surrounded by his wife and children in his final moments at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside, CA. He was born in Loc Giang, province of Duc Hoa, Vietnam, on April 4th 1941, to his father, the late Lam Van Nguyen, and his mother, the late Phoi Thi Pham. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Ly Pham, for more than 50 years and a dedicated father to his two sons: Robert Nguyen, and Bao Nguyen.

Nguyen grew up as fourth child of seven siblings in the family. He joined the military after graduated from Petuskie HS. Nguyen was trained as a naval officer at Vo Bi Quoc Gia Viet Nam 19th class, class of 1969.

On April 30, 1975, when South Vietnam fell to the Communist forces, Nguyen was in the city with his parents and family and got sent to the re-education camp in the northern Vietnam for 6 years and was on probation for an additional 5 years.

Nguyen came to the US in 1991 under the political prisoner program with his wife and two sons. Nguyen struggled to learn English while working to provide his family started a new life in Los Angeles, CA. Nguyen and his wife then started working as self employed when his two sons started Medical school from 1998 to 2003.

Nguyen had been deeply loved and will be missed, but we find solace in knowing that he is now at peace with his beloved mother and father. Nguyen is predeceased by his parents, Lam Van Nguyen and Phoi Thi Pham and his other siblings.

He is survived by his wife Ly Pham, son Bao; wife Hieu and 4 children. Son Robert; wife Hien and 3 childrens. His surviving siblings are sister Bay Nguyen(US), youngest brother Thanh Nguyen(VN) along with numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family.

The family wishes to thank the ICU staff of Riverside Community Hospital for their attentive and compassionate efforts to care for Nguyen at the end of his life.

Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday August 12, 2023, from 10-2 pm, at the Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA.
