Dear Brother Kalev,

I am so sorry for your great loss of your  wife. 
As you will recall we met each other first at 1973 at Haifa /Technion and later first at 1983 in my first visit to LA we met both again in your very first days of knowing Maria…… and we have had so many good memories together with both of you starting from the very first days that you were met each other and of course Z”L your great  father.

We want to deliver our sincere condolences to you as my wife has been in Istanbul and unfortunately we were not able to meet together earlier.

May God make Maria rest in peace at his paradise.

Maria was the epitome of grace and beauty and my mom would always say "que bonita y elegante". Maria was always very nice to my mom, Gracie, Ernest, Brandon and me.  You could see the happiness in her eyes living her life with Kalev and when visiting with them there was always a fabulous meal. She was kind, funny compassionate and so much more. She even laughed at my jokes. I only wish I had visited more often.

She will be missed and the world is a sadder place without her.

Remembering my Aunt Mary. 
1984 we met up in Italy and spent some lovely and joyful days together. 
She was a lovely person and my mother always used to tell the story of how she, being seven years older, used to take her little sister Mary piggy back when they went out to play with other children in Argentina. 
It was so nice to meet her and Kalev again in Buenos Aires some eight years ago.

Abuelita Maria was lyrical music you could sway to. If you sang a little ditty, she would hum along. When I think of Abuelita, I often think about a voicemail message she left years ago, just checking in on me while she was preparing dinner, Brazilian jazz swinging smoothly in the background.

I have a few favorite meals of hers: Pastel de papas was special, mostaciolli with meat sauce was such a comfort, and her chopped green salad was the very best—no one else in the world comes close to it…so simple with olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, pepper, and love.

She worked steadily over the years: diligently, professionally, and very fashionably.

I love seeing pictures of Abuelita in her youth astride a horse or playing field hockey. Her field hockey team were campeonas! She was strong, capable, willing to take on a challenge. She loved to watch futbol. Vamos, vamos, Argentina! And she loved to see a lively tennis match.

Abuelita Maria came to every family gathering she could. She was at baptisms, communions, dance recitals, birthdays, graduations, and holiday gatherings. She and Kalev were certain to be a part of special moments.

Abuelita was patient with my Spanish speaking—lighting up when I’d offer a phrase or two.

Abuelita went with the flow. She kept up on current events and read the paper as long as she could. She had strong opinions, but she sought peace and understanding.

Abuelita was one of my first homes. I always knew I could go to her for an embrace and a kiss and a loving pat on the knee. She always wanted to know about where we lived and what we were up to. She loved hearing what her great-grandchildren were doing, learning, experiencing.

I miss her and love her.

My Abeulita was there for so many of my childhood events, just about all of them. If family was gathering, she was there.

A meal I will never forget that she would prepare was her brisket. Never again in my life have I eaten this meal tender and rich in flavor as she made it. Perhaps it was the love she poured into it.

As a child, sitting in the kitchen table to eat was a work of traditions and procedure. Flavors of decadence abound. Preserves, marmalade, dates, prunes, apricots, nuts, the perfect toast, and the most delicious whipped butter. Hardboiled eggs and oatmeal were usually to be found as well.

I remember her always praying for health, and world peace for all at the table. She cared deeply for her loved ones, and always wished safety upon them. She never forgot a birthday and would call on your day with a merry song and wishes for a prosperous year.

She lived to see her great-great grandchildren and delighted in their presence and loveliness. What a gift, as very few live to experience such a range of generations after them, none of which would be there without her.

I remember sleeping over at her house as a little one and enjoying a plethora of family movies together in the evenings. One time, I was so afraid that goblins were going to come and get me in my sleep after a movie, and she was very against watching the Princess and the Goblin again if it was going to make me so fearful. I look back and smile at her concern and laugh that even though I was so terrified, I loved the movie and wanted to watch it over and over with my Abeulita and Kalev.

Her home was a place of all things that brought her joy. Completely covered in all things she loved; from pictures of loved ones, to her beloved dolls. She never came home empty-handed from her travels and always brought home trinkets for her grandchildren from places afar. I am grateful that she can be at peace and join loved ones passed in realms beyond. Thank you Abeulita for touching all of our lives.

Maria had a wonderful sense of humor, and her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. I‘ll never forget how warmly she welcomed me into her beautiful home. 
One special memory that stands out is the time she invited me to stay for dinner-something l came to cherish, knowing how much she loved sharing her delicious salads with homemade Italian dressing, a true tradition in their home.
I met Mia in jr. high and lived two blocks away, so I spent a lot of time near their family. Maria took great joy in caring for the flowers in both her front and backyard, her love for beauty and nature was clear in everything she did. 
Maria’s warm smile and generous spirit will never be forgotten. She will always remain in the hearts of her family and who were lucky enough to know her.

This was such a special moment for me. Getting to share with my grandma my experience in being a grandma. I have so many good memories. Her laugh, I don’t even remember her ever getting angry. She always looked at the bright side of every situation. She fully enjoyed the simple things in life. Her stories about the cats and the little birds that would come to visit her in the garden. Every visit she loved showing us her new little trinket and had a detailed story about it from her recent trip. It amazed me how she remembered all of it because she has so many.  Her singing… I’m going to miss her phone calls singing happy birthday every year.  Our Lita Kitty Mono, she loved her family so so much. She just always wanted everyone together and happy! A great great grandma she is… ❤️

I had the privilege of being her first great grandchild. One thing I remember about her is everytime we spent the night breakfast was the first thing we did. She never not had orange juice for us. A little bit of coffee and toast. Some sports news. Her back yard also, brunch in the back. She took pride in her beautiful flower garden. We would have small family parties in the back. It was always a great time. 
The most special memory I have of her is when we were in Cabo, she couldn’t swim the entire trip so I was able to hold her in my arms and carry her through the pool as if she was swimming. She was smiling and laughing like I had never seen before. Love you lita kita mono.

I Gloria cabrera am a friend of Mia who would take me to see her mother in the valley,she was a very kind and loving person who was very respectful.May she rest in peace.I will miss her presence,God has her now.Love Gloria.

One of my last visits with her I asked her what was the secret to her lifelong love with Kalev , she said respecto , of coarse. 
Now I take that and apply it in my marriage, and I will give my children the same advice. I loved hearing that she had met Kalev at a jazz club and that it was love at first sight. She was loved greatly by Kalev and all her family. Forever in my heart.

The supreme Beauty always had her hair done. She always had her makeup finished in a complete outfit and never forgets her accessories a true feminine. I loved walking into her home decor from the floor to the ceiling a collector of things memorabilia from all the places she has been from pink cabinets to pink tile in the bathrooms. She was a girls girl. Every time she looked at me she never had to say it I know she was so proud of me ,  one of my last moments with Herr, she grabbed my face and told me how beautiful I was she believed in me which made me believe in myself she said the bar to be an amazing woman and loving grandmother. My beautiful grandmother.

There are no words that can describe the sorrow in our hearts for the passing of Maria, our beloved.
