Mike Dehdashtian, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on December 13, 2023. Born on August 28, 1936, Mike grew up in Abadan, Iran, Mike's journey through life was marked by resilience, determination, and an unwavering love for his family.
Growing up in a large and loving household, Mike shared countless cherished memories with his parents, brothers, and sisters. Tragically, the loss of his mother at a young age fueled his dreams of a brighter future in the United States, where he believed he could find better education and opportunities.
In March of 1960, Mike embarked on a courageous journey, boarding a ship bound for New York from Italy. From there, he made his way to California, settling on the West Coast to begin his new life. Mike attended Woodbury University in Los Angeles, where he dedicated himself to mastering the English language and obtained his bachelor's degree and became a United States Citizen. It was during his time in college that he had a fateful encounter at a dance and met the love of his life, Eleanor Riccardi.
Mike and Ellie, as they were lovingly known, exchanged vows on August 29, 1965, at Saint Peter's Italian Church in Los Angeles. Together, they bought a home in Cerritos, California, where they built their beautiful family. Mike was a devoted husband and father, working tirelessly to provide for his loved ones. He coached his children's sports teams and became a beloved figure in the community, affectionately known as Mr. D by all who knew him.
Tragically, Ellie passed away in 2008, leaving behind a void in Mike's heart. Despite his own health struggles, he remained in the family home, filled with cherished memories of a life well-lived.
Mike Dehdashtian will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his infectious laughter, and his kind and loving spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and strength. Mike is survived by his children Derek, Marc, Kristi, and Michael, as well as his grandchildren and a multitude of friends and loved ones.
