Natividad was born on March 24, 1947 to parents, Augustine Avalos and Tomasa Avalos. She is survived by her husband, John Perez Sr., daughter Gina Velasquez (David), son John Henry Perez (Melissa), sisters Mina Esparza, Eva Rivas, Maria Finn (Mike), brother Luis Avalos, numerous nieces and nephews, 4 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren whom she adored. She is preceded in death by
her brother Lucas Avalos, father Augustine Avalos, mother Tomasa Avalos, and brother Augustine “Peach” Avalos.
Nati enjoyed teaching people, children as well as adults. She began her career at Garretson Elementary School on November 12, 1974 as an Assistant Bilingual Instructor and continued teaching at various schools in the District until September 25, 2005. Even after retirement, she was a tutor and helped different ages with English as a second language. Every chance possible, Nati happily made sure to spend time helping to educate her grandkids and great-grands.
She loved to travel and did so as much as possible. She and Johnny spent many weekends camping with family over the years. She was always ready for an adventure (or slot machine) and loved hanging with her friends, cousins, sisters, and her beloved Johnny. One of her favorite trips was visiting Israel and going into the Dead Sea. Nati was a devout Catholic praying for everyone daily and sharing God’s word with her children. We will always be thankful for the wisdom she shared and love she gave and know that she will be watching over us as our guardian angel.
