Shelley - I’m so sorry to hear the new of Bob’s passing. My sincere condolences. I hope you are doing well and staying safe during these crazy times.  Sending hugs your way. 💕

  Bobby, the adventurous little boy, my first friend, my big brother.  Together we would hide on top of the open garage door, climb out the window after Mom put us down for naps, and play for hours in the dark fort that Mom created in the hallway.  Bob always seemed so brave and confident, and he helped me feel safe when I was afraid.  When we were 5 and 4 years old, Dad was away on Air Force duty and Mom had to go into the hospital for 3 days.  We were left with a neighbor lady we didn't know - Bob was there and I wasn't afraid.  Bobby was a born leader.  He was a boy scout, a little league baseball player, high jumper, and trumpet player.  
  Bob faced life head on.  Like the time he helped our dog, Tippy, deliver her puppies when no one else knew what to do.  Only age 9, Bob didn't hesitate and all the puppies were saved.  And Bob was brave at the end and seemed unafraid.  I say goodbye for now my dear brother Bob.  With my everlasting love, your sister, Janet

Remembering our close friend, Bob Kain; he will be so missed by Lynda, myself, Shelley and his many friends and family. 
 
We became friends through the American Institute of Architects and with our growing positions in each of our firms we helped and mentored one another.  Our wives Shelley and Lynda became fast friends and as couples we enjoyed many good times together, from Porsche Club events to Shopping and Dining on Balboa and Catalina Island, birthdays & holiday gatherings at the Victoria Country Club with Shelley’s Mom Vera & family.  We enjoyed visiting a favorite Sushi Bar and rarely missed the LA Auto show each year; we enjoyed many outings with friends Chuck & Debbie Eyberg and Patty, Kim and Randy Burns that included many enjoyable wine tasting trips to Temecula, Santa Barbara, Paso Robles, Napa and Sonoma.  There were great golfing experiences in Monterey and taking in the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.  I am grateful that Bob pulled me into his golf circle and inspired me to learn the game that I continue to enjoy. 

Bob’s talent as an architect, his contributions to industry leadership and his welcoming people skills inspired us all to promote the American Institute of Architects, the CalPoly Architecture Program/Partners Circle/Advisory Board, the Riverside Art Museum and the many other organizations he had been a part of to grow and prosper.  As a young architect he helped HMC grow as he grew professionally and rose to be the firm’s President; he has been an inspiration to his firm’s Board of Directors, to position the firm as a leader in the architecture of educational institutions, healthcare facilities and major medical centers.  All of us appreciate his many contributions both personally and professionally; these will not be forgotten.  We will miss you Bob!
