

Robert Nichols was born on August 14, 1943 in Round Lake WI to Sarah Benton and Clarence Filmore Nichols. Robert—who was known as “Nick”—attended Amery (WI) High School, where he was on the track team. In 1961, Nick joined the U. S. Navy and was trained as an interior communications electrician. He eventually saw duty on the USS Wexford County. Nick mustered out of the Navy after serving 3 years 2 months and 17 days.
To the union of Nick’s marriage to Linda Schoonover, three children were born: Lisa, Danny, and Robert. Settling in Los Angeles, Nick worked as a machinist/engineer for Continental, and later repaired band saw machines for Amada. In 1975, Nick married Audrey McManus. Life around the Nichols home
involved camping, hunting, fishing, and riding dirt bikes. Nick was also a fan of Bud Light. He made friends quickly, especially if they shared some of his interests. NASCAR—Dale Earnhart, Sr. was his favorite driver), the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers. He also enjoyed riding all-terrain vehicles.
Along the way, Nick endured a number of trials, but the harshest trial he faced was in April 2012, when his son Danny, died of cancer at just 42 years of age. It was a blow that affected Nick to the end of his life.
Nick is survived by children, Lisa (Jay), Miranda (Robert), Robert Nichols Jr (Heather), and daughter-in-law Brenda Nichols (Adelanto). He was devoted to his grandchildren, including Jonathan (Tiffany); as well as Ashley, Joshua, and Kaili; Trevor, Courtney, Cannon, Gage, and Ilexi; Alfie, Jerry, and Roger; and Kailyn. Two great-grandchildren also survive Nick, namely Vienna and Emma.
