Serafin Antonio Gonzalez also known as Angel was born on December 22, 1997, in Riverside, California to Fabian Gonzalez and Santa Jaramillo. On Thursday, October 10, 2013, Serafin was riding his bike, heading home, when he stopped at a railroad crossing to let a freight train by. Once the train passed, Serafin began to cross the tracks and was hit and killed by a Metrolink train coming in the opposite direction.
Serafin is survived by his parents, Fabian Gonzalez and Santa Jaramillo; sisters, Anna Marie, Corrina and Marlena; nephew, Reye Anthony Cabrera; grandparents, Antonio and Sara Gonzalez; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Serafin spent most of his life living with his mother and sisters. He lived in many places including San Diego and San Jacinto, eventually moving back to the place he called home, Riverside. While living in Riverside with his cousin Gloria, Serafin attended Arlington High School.
An avid sports fan, Serafin loved his Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Rams and Boston Celtics. His passion for sports inspired him to play flag football, basketball and his favorite sport, baseball. In addition to sports, Serafin enjoyed music and dancing. He danced with friends at school, at family parties and fine-tuned his dance moves at home. Serafin even recorded his skills and posted them on youtube.
As most of you know, Serafin always had to look fresh. Whether he was riding his bike, skateboarding, dancing, or just hanging out with friends he always had to look his best. Something most of you probably don’t know is very recently Serafin became obsessed with his teeth. Though he always had a great smile, Serafin felt that his teeth just weren't white enough and did everything possible to try to make them whiter. He would not eat and save his lunch money to buy whitening toothpaste. He also started brushing his teeth three times a day in hopes for a brighter smile.
Although Serafin was often a silly guy, he was a genuinely loving, protective and forgiving young man. He loved to make people laugh, by telling jokes and making funny faces.
Serafin will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He was the kind of young man that anyone would be proud to call son, grandson, cousin, nephew and friend.
Rest in peace Serafin Antonio Gonzalez, you will never be forgotten.
