Kathy Yersa Coe slipped quietly into the eternities while she slept on the 13th of October 2017. She suffered from chronic health conditions but her passing was quite unexpected; we are grateful that she will not struggle with migraines or any other condition anymore. Kathy was known for her helpfulness and generosity. She would often give away clothing, furniture, household articles, money, and even vehicles to those who were in need and offered her home to those who needed shelter. Kathy was an outstanding cook; her salsa, lomo saltado, thanksgiving turkey, green (pesto) spaghetti, and whip cream layered cakes were coveted at family gatherings and ward activities. She also crocheted and knitted blankets, clothing and beanies. She was talented with arts and crafts and had recently picked up coloring and drawing. After raising her four children she turned her attention towards being the best grandma ever and, as we knew she would, she was succeeding at that too.
Kathy was born on February 21, 1966 in Lima Peru. She moved to the United States when she was 12 years old and graduated high school in Laguna Beach, CA. She was attending UVCC in Orem, UT when she was assigned to a family home evening group along with her future husband Marlan James Coe; they decided to kick the rest of the group out and make it a permanent arrangement after just a couple of weeks. Kathy and Marlan were married on April 25, 1987 in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She went on to serve in callings in the Relief Society, Young Women’s, and Primary in the LDS Church.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years and counting, Marlan James Coe, and their four children; Catherine Rosette Callan (James “Mickey”, Nathan James, and Maeva Rosette), Isabel Maria Coe Zmolek (Jeffrey), Peter Alexander (Isabella), and Julianna Yersa, as well as her mother, Yersa Hilton and five siblings.
A funeral will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the LDS chapel at 2198 W. Foxtrail Drive, Lehi, UT at 11 AM, preceded by a receiving at 9:30 AM. An open house will be held at the family home on Thursday, October 19th at 4616 N Pheasant Ridge Trail, Lehi, UT from 6:30 to 8 PM for those who wish to express their condolences but cannot attend the services. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to the charity of your choice in Kathy’s name.
Arrangements under the direction of Family Funeral Care, Riverton, UT.
