Roberta Hortencia Cuevas Ibanez

Nació el 17 de diciembre de 1940 en Parral, Chile, hija de Roberto y Hortencia Cuevas. Contrajo matrimonio con Víctor Ruz en diciembre de 1966, en Parral, Chile.

Con profundo amor y gratitud recordamos a Roberta, una mujer extraordinaria, cuya vida fue un reflejo de fe, entrega y alegría. Fue hija, hermana, madre y abuela amorosa, dejando una huella imborrable en cada etapa de su vida y en cada corazón que tuvo el privilegio de conocerla.

Fue una dedicada maestra siempre llena de energía y con un espíritu aventurero que la llevaba a disfrutar cada momento.

Fue una verdadera aventurera, que junto a su familia recorrió Chile de norte a sur, de cordillera a mar, dejando recuerdos imborrables en cada lugar visitado. Para nuestra mamá, Soledad y Pia fuimos las mejores hijas del mundo, y tuvimos el inmenso honor de cuidarla, acompañarla y besarla hasta su último suspiro.

Siempre esperaba a la familia de Sole con quien vivía, con una comida calentita al terminar un largo día de trabajo, demostrando su amor en los pequeños actos cotidianos que hacían sentir a todos en casa. Le encantaban los chocolates y el helado, y su color favorito era el verde, un color que le transmitía paz y tranquilidad.

Su carácter valiente y arriesgado la impulsó a vivir con intensidad, mientras que su lado sensible y creativo se manifestaba en detalles como su hermosa letra y su amor por tejer. Fue una mujer creyente, espiritual y temerosa de Dios, guiando su vida con principios firmes y un corazón lleno de fe.

Junto a nuestro papá tenía una habilidad especial para preparar pan amasado, mermeladas y salsa de tomate, llenando el hogar de aromas, sabores y momentos de unión familiar que hoy atesoramos con cariño.

Le sobreviven sus hijos, Pia Navarro y Soledad Ruz; su yerno, Eduardo Navarro; sus nietos, Kevin Jilliam, MaKenzie, Nathan y Steve; y sus hermanas, Violeta Cuevas y Edith Cuevas.

Le precedieron en la muerte su esposo, Víctor Ruz; su hijo, Víctor Roato; y sus padres, Roberto y Hortencia Cuevas.

Hoy la recordamos con amor, honrando su vida, su ejemplo y todo el cariño que sembró en cada uno de nosotros.

Roberta Hortencia Cuevas Ibáñez passed away on May 5, 2026, at the age of 85, in Saratoga Springs, Utah, USA.

She was born on December 17, 1940, in Parral, Chile, to her parents, Roberto and Hortencia Cuevas. She married Victor Ruz in December 1966 in Parral, Chile.

With deep love and gratitude, we remember Roberta, an extraordinary woman whose life was a reflection of faith, devotion, and joy. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, leaving an unforgettable mark on every stage of her life and in every heart blessed to know her.

She was a dedicated teacher, always full of energy and blessed with an adventurous spirit that led her to fully enjoy every moment of life.

Together with her family, she traveled throughout Chile from north to south, from the mountains to the sea, creating cherished memories everywhere she went. To our mother, Soledad and Pia were the best daughters in the world, and we had the immense honor of caring for her, comforting her, and kissing her until her final breath.

She always welcomed Sole’s family, with whom she lived, with a warm meal after a long day of work, showing her love through small daily acts that made everyone feel at home. She loved chocolates and ice cream, and her favorite color was green, a color that brought her peace and tranquility.

Her brave and adventurous nature inspired her to live life fully, while her sensitive and creative side shone through in her beautiful handwriting and her love for knitting. She was a faithful, spiritual woman who feared God, guiding her life with strong values and a heart full of faith.

Together with our father, she had a special talent for making homemade bread, jams, and tomato sauce, filling the home with wonderful aromas, flavors, and treasured moments of family togetherness that we hold close to our hearts today.

She is survived by her children, Pia Navarro and Soledad Ruz; her son-in-law, Eduardo Navarro; her grandchildren, Kevin Jilliam, MaKenzie, Nathan, and Steve; and her sisters, Violeta Cuevas and Edith Cuevas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Ruz; her son, Victor Roato; and her parents, Roberto and Hortencia Cuevas.

Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Today we remember her with love, honoring her life, her example, and all the love she planted in each one of us.

Families are eternal.
