Rochelle was born on August 26, 1962 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alwin and Odetta Battad. She attended Cottonwood High School, Salt Lake Community College, and Westminster College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Rochelle worked many years in the Salt Lake School District where the children she taught brought her great joy.
Rochelle married Ken Reaveley on July 27, 1988. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with two children; Nainoa & Kaleinani. Nainoa loved to help his mom in many ways but his favorite was being her personal chauffeur. Kaleinani loved to spend time cooking and watching movies with her. Rochelle was grateful for her children’s strength, love and care as her health declined. Rochelle and Ken instilled in their children a strong knowledge that families are forever and that even though they are separated now they will be reunited one day.
Rochelle had a special connection with all she came in contact with, including her friends and family in Utah and Hawaii. She loved Hawaiian music and dance. It was of great importance to Rochelle that her children learned of their Hawaiian culture and heritage.
Rochelle endured a lifetime of health trials and through them all she was a beautiful example of love, grace and optimism. She always faced her trials with a smile. A special strength in Rochelle’s life was the bond she had with her mother who was always by her side to lovingly provide care and support.
Rochelle is survived by her parents, her children, Nainoa (Kaelyn) and Kaleinani; her siblings, Chuck (Tiffany), Kehau (Gary) Stout, Kaipo (Julie) and many other family members in Utah and Hawaii. Proceeded in death by her husband Ken, and her older brother Anthony.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all those who loved and cared for Rochelle over the years, especially Dr. MacPherson and the staff of Quality Care Hospice.
A Celebration of her life will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 11:00 am at the LDS church 1160 E Vine St. Murray, UT. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 11, from 6-8 pm at the same location and prior to the service on Thursday from 9:00- 10:30am.
