Douglas "Doug" Walton McDaniel Sr.

Doug attended Graham High School in Bluefield VA in the late 1950s, and joined the Navy at 17, serving four years. He married Kathy Smith in 1962, and they had two children, Doug Jr (Jessica) of Bluefield, WV, and Robert (Angie) of TX. He later married Patricia Willis McNeece in 1973, and they had one child, Adam (Sherri) of Roanoke, VA. Together, they also raised her children, Debrah Nester, Teresa Luck, Jon McNeece, and Karl Gregory McNeece. His son, Kevin Richardson (Samantha) of Bland, VA, also survives him.

Doug was an independent business owner and realtor before retiring. He is survived by 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, his brother, James Rutherford of Decatur, GA, and sisters, Patricia Couto of Mechanicsville, VA, Wanda Covington of Dillwyn, VA, and Donna Cole (Cam) of Roanoke, VA.

Visitation will be at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Mr. McDaniel's burial will be on December 20th, 2025 at 12 p.m at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, VA.

Pastor Keith Wingfield will be officiating the service and pallbearers include Douglas (Trey) McDaniel, III, Seth McDaniel, Hunter McDaniel, Mason McNeece and other grandchildren.
