Obituary of Pamela Gayle Sartin
Pamela “Pam” Gayle Beckner Sartin, 76, of Salem gained her wings and had a joyful reunion with many loved ones in Heaven on May 15, 2024 while surrounded by her family. Pam was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Alvin, her son, Alvin Jr., her parents, James and Ruby Beckner, and her siblings: twin brother, Phillip Beckner, Brenda Shaver, Jimmy Beckner, Carol Strouth, and Wanda Hazen. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and best friend, Cassandra “Sandy” Ayers and husband, Michael, grandchildren, Kristen Guthrie and husband, David, Katie Hancock and husband, Corey, Christopher Ayers and wife, Brittany, and her great-grandchildren - Levi Boyer, Deacon Guthrie, Brylee Ayers, Caden Hancock, Wyatt Hancock, Emery Staples, and Evander Ayers, sister, Barbara Maxey; sisters-in-law, Dreama Page and Shirley Sartin, special niece, Melissa Fender; special nephew, Barry Stafford, along with many other nieces, nephews, and friends who she loved so very much. Pam is also survived by her sweet and loving pup, Trixie. To know Pam was to love her. Her energy and joy for life was infectious. She was a devoted wife, mother, nana/yaya, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved her family fiercely and never hesitated for a second to make sure they were cared for and had everything they needed. Her son and daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the absolute joys of her life. Above everything else, Pam loved Jesus. She was a faithful member of Salem Church of God for many years. She loved her church family as if they were her own and found so much joy in attending church. Pam was born on March 29, 1948 in Roanoke. VA. She was the strongest person many of us have ever known. She lived her life to the fullest no matter what kind of struggles or bumps in the road that she faced. She retired from Roanoke City Schools and continued working on the side and running circles around those who knew her until she absolutely couldn’t anymore. She loved spending time camping and riding around the campground in her golf cart. She spent every possible moment with her family. Pam leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faithfulness. She will be so greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5731 Airport Road NW Roanoke, VA on Friday, May 17th from 1pm-3pm and 5pm-7pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 12pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Stiffler officiating. A graveside service will follow immediately at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
