Dennis Hale Miller

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2815 W. 3rd Street, Coal Valley, where Mr. Miller was a member. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Interment will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Hodgson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Dennis was born on February 8, 1936 in Beardstown, IL, the son of Glenn C. and Dorothy G. (Cundiff) Miller. He served in the National Guard from 1954 to 1971. For many years he was a truck driver retiring from Rock Island Tobacco in 1986. In more recent years he worked at the Rockingham Road Dollar General store in Davenport. Dennis enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Dennis’ first wife, Virginia, preceded him in death in 1976. He later married and is survived by Shirley Miller, his wife of 37 years. Mr. Miller is also survived by his children, Susan (John) Isaacs, Bob (Liz) Terrill, Tom Terrill, Bonnie (Jim) Hendricks, and Jeanette (Richard) Waterman; granddaughters, Sarah Chaplin, Michelle Melody, Lori Hansen, Bobby Harris, Wendy Peterson, Tracey Miller, Buffy Sharp, Jenny Gordon, Faith Mowery, and Samantha Terrill; many great grandchildren; and siblings, Sandra Austro, Janice Ross, Charles Miller, and Larry Miller.

Mr. Miller was also preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Carla Fuller, and an infant son, Matthew Miller.
