Vera L. Nelson

In accordance with her wishes, her body will be cremated. Services and inurnment will take place at a future date at the Dallas Cemetery in Melcher-Dallas, Iowa, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Robert E. Nelson, who passed away on October 6, 2009. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan, IL. Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Vera was born on October 17, 1924 in Lake View, Iowa, the daughter of August W.H. and Barbara Mae (Long) Quistorff. She married Robert E. Nelson on June 14, 1944 in Wall Lake, Iowa.

Vera was a homemaker for most of her life, and enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan.

Her son, David Nelson, Rock Island, and an extended family in Iowa and elsewhere are left to honor her memory.

In addition to her husband, her parents, a sister, and an infant brother preceded Mrs. Nelson in death.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Rosewood Care Center, Moline, for the attention and care given to Mrs. Nelson during her extended stay there.
