

Brenda, who lived in Melbourne, Florida, for the past 40 years, grew up in Cocoa, Florida, and graduated from Cocoa High School. After a brief marriage that produced two children, she went to work as a self-taught proofreader and editor with Gannett Corporation at Today Newspaper. She later retired as an exceptional proofreader/ editor for Harris Corporation’s technical and marketing materials.
Brenda was an avid reader, horse lover and collector of teddy bears and lighthouse figurines. She had a natural talent for creating unique flower arrangements.
Brenda was quiet, kind and always showed a genuine interest in others. She listened intently with respect and compassion. Before becoming homebound, she loved traveling to the mountains in North Carolina with her daughter, Lisa.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Painter and Edna (Booth) Painter, and two brothers, George Painter and Leslie Painter.
Brenda is survived by her brother, Gary Painter, her two children Lisa Batson Capps and Mathew Batson, and one grandson, Dylan Batson.
Brenda was interned at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Florida, on December 17, 2019 in the presence of family and friends.
A celebration of life is planned for after the New Year. The date will be announced in the near future.
