Carmen Gomez Leonard, 90, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013. She was born in 1923 and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She attended Florida State College for Women for her Bachelor of Science Degree, and went to the University of Cincinnati for her Master's Degree in Chemistry. She worked for the Federal Government for about 30 years at the Army Biological Laboratories and at the National Institutes of Health. During that time, she published over 35 scientific research papers. Carmen and her husband retired to Florida in 1985, and she enjoyed golf, swimming, and walking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick A. Leonard.
