Charles Edward Long

Mr. Long was born on April 21, 1932 in Johnson City, TN. to the late Clinton and Dorothy Long. He has lived in Brevard County since 1977. Mr. Long was a retired supervising engineer. He was also retired bus driver for the Brevard County school system. Mr. Long was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Melbourne.

Everyone who ever met Mr. Long knew that he had a perpetual zest for life. A smile seemed to be a permanent fixture upon his face. He loved people and did not believe that strangers existed. A lot of his time was spent in fellowship with friends from church, friends from his ROMEO Club, and new friends he would meet at car shows. Car shows was one of his favorite pastimes as it combined both his love of people and his love of classic cars of which he had several. He did enjoy some quiet time and would use this time to assemble puzzles or tinker in his garage. Above all, his greatest treasure was that of his family. He was a wonderful husband and friend. His children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter were the beat of his heart, and he was also filled with much pride for his special bonus family whom he loved as his own.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mildred Barberree Long of Melbourne; his daughter Debbie Nale (Terry) of Dyersburg, TN.; his sons Christopher Long of Melbourne and Gregory Long (Elizabeth) of Vero Beach; his grandchildren Kelly Nale, Jesse Long, Mikayla Long, and Austin Long; and his great granddaughter Braelynn Long. He, also leaves his sister Charlotte Hicks and his brothers Leroy Long and Gary Long.

Mr. Long was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Long; his parents; his siblings Floyd Long, Bill Long, Freddie Long, Shirley Arrowood, and Annie Long; and his grandson, Dustin Nale.

Visitation for Mr. Long will be from 2-3 pm on Sunday, February 6th, at Calvary Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 3 pm. Interment will be at Florida Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to Promise in Brevard.
