

Claudie (Claude) Oxendine, 82, of Rockledge, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020. He was born August 24, 1938 in Rowland, North Carolina to the late Lacy Lee and Cordie Locklear Oxendine.
Claude spent many years pouring and finishing terrazzo floors before going to work at Sharpes Correctional Facility, then transferred to Department of Transportation, State of Florida where he retired after 35 years. He enjoyed making tile coffee tables, refinishing furniture and gardening.
Claude was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cocoa. He was loved and respected by his children, grandchildren, relatives, friends and anyone who met him.
He is survived by his wife Gretchen of Rockledge; daughter Kay (Jeffrey) Astrowsky of Orlando; four grandchildren, Lauren Oxendine and Dalton Oxendine of Oviedo, Joshua Astrowsky and Madison Astrowsky of Orlando; daughter-in-law Nancy Oxendine of Oviedo; two brothers, Edward (Alice) Oxendine of Lumberton, NC and Charles (Faye) Oxendine of Rowland, NC; three sisters, Christine Locklear of Pembroke, NC, Mary Frances Oxendine of Maxton, NC and Mary Alice (Dale) Jacobs of High Point, NC; and many relatives.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Douglas Oxendine and Stanley Oxendine; six brothers, Lacy Lee Oxendine, Jr., D.W. Oxendine, Levi Oxendine, Roscoe Oxendine, Fletcher Oxendine and an infant brother; four sisters, Bertha Jacobs, Corde Locklear, Lucy Emanuel and Pachan Locklear.
A Memorial Service will be held at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, FL, on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Visitation at 1 PM followed by the service at 2 PM. The service will be live streamed through the Florida Memorial Gardens Facebook page at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or First Baptist Church of Cocoa (Building Fund).
