Darrell Eldon Haskins passed away on October 5, 2019 and has gone to heaven. Darrell was born on December 12, 1930 in Augusta, Wisconsin to Ezra and Edna Haskins and lived on the family farm with his parents, sister Lorna (dec) and grandmother, Minnie. Singing was always an important part of their lives and Darrell and his friends would sing accompanied by his mother on the piano. Darrell sang with the church choir and performed many solos in church, weddings and funerals. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church for over 40 years.
Darrell served in the US Navy and returned to Augusta in 1950 and married the love of his life, Mary Rahl. Darrell and Mary worked the family farm and Darrell drove over the road trucks. In 1971 they relocated to Merritt Island, Florida to start the next phase of their lives. When the Space Shuttle program ramped up, Darrell began his next career working at Kennedy Space Center/Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. He retired in 1993 and he and Mary enjoyed puttering around the house and yard and he enjoyed golfing with his buddies. They also enjoyed spending time in Florida and Wisconsin with family and traveling between the two states.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary, son Ellis and daughters Carolyn (Dennis) Munroe, Lorna (Archie) Heath and Jane (John) Haskins, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and the grand dogs. He was a beloved son, husband, father and brother-in-law to Lois (dec), Virginia (dec), Dolly and Bill (dec) and the fun Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all.
