Passed away on 7/4/2016 at the Williams and Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay,
Florida.
Born: 7/30/1930 in Linden, New Jersey
Employed by the United States Navy as a meteorologist and while in the Navy he
functioned in many roles ranging from a Hurricane Hunter to commanding fellow naval
personnel when he promoted to the position of Lieutenant Commander. He enjoyed his
job and was always proud to serve his country. He entered the Navy as an enlisted man
and retired as an Lieutenant Commander after 32 years of service. He was awarded the
National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, China
Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and Good Conduct Meritorious Unit
Commendation.
His survivors include two daughters, Alana Montgomery-McBurnie and her husband
Bryon McBurnie and Dawn Freeman. He had three grandchildren, Lindsey Bogard who
is married to Randy Bogard, Lauren Montgomery and Natasha Freeman. He is also
survived by two step grand children, Christopher McBurnie ( and his soon to be wife
Chrissie Jones) and Katie McBurnie. He is also survived by his older sister, Ruth
Weinish and her children; Mark, Jay, and Shari as well as his great niece Erin and her
husband and great nephew, Lawrence and his partner Daniel.
Dave. He enjoyed his many friendships that he developed over the years, and many of his
friends considered him part of their family too. Dave
enjoyed discussing many topics and always loved eating good food. He will be missed
greatly by all the people that he had touched throughout his lifetime. He never met an
stranger and instantly befriended people that he came into contact with. Dave
contributed time, energy and finances to many causes to help people and organizations.
Dave was known to be an unselfish, loving, good humored individual whose laughter
would fill up a room. Dave will be missed but not forgotten.

Dave did not want a funeral service or memorial service but wished everyone to
celebrate his life, good humor and memories. He had chosen to be cremated so there
