

A deeply devoted husband to survivor Annette McElhoe Kintigh and loving father to Nadene Kintigh Willett (Tom), Debra Kintigh Anderson (Bob), Dawn Kintigh, and David DeLane Kintigh (Sandy), his devotion and legacy will continue through the pride of his surviving grandchildren: LTCOL Frank Armeson US Army, LTCOL David Armeson US Army, Bethany Willett Weber, Samuel Willett, Sarah Anderson Daily, Jacob Anderson, Amy Anderson Miramontes, Jesse Anderson, Aaron Anderson, Christopher Anderson, Annie [Angelica Rose] Trombo, Rowen [Lilia] Trombo, Taylor Spicer, Landon Spicer, Amber Albury, and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Jerry Kintigh, Bruce Kintigh, and Dana Kintigh.
David joins in heaven his birth mother Thelma Mae Harris Kintigh and life mother Roslyn [Rose] Pastor Kintigh with his father Harry Dwight Kintigh, brother Curtis Kintigh, and grandson Benjamin Anderson.
David and Annette met in September of 1951 in high school starting a love that would ignite 72 years together, 67 years married.
Joining the US Air Force during the Korean War in 1953, David studied Airborne Navigation Systems becoming a Mobile Training Detachment Instructor and working with B52, C124, and C54 aircraft. In 1956, he married his sweetheart and began military family life, and college, earning his first degree in 1964 in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wyoming and changing his stripes for officer’s bars that would set the foundation for his career as an Aerospace Engineer. After moving 16 times in 9 years, David and family were stationed at [then] Patrick Air Force Base, Air Force Eastern Test Range, as an engineer for missile range technology and ARIA Apollo communications. David completed duty in Nakhon Phanom, Thailand during the Vietnam War periodically through 1970-1973, returning to Patrick AFB as a systems engineer for the Titan missile program.
During service, David earned a master’s degree in Personnel Counseling and Guidance from Troy State University, Alabama, restationed to Patrick AFB as Chief, Titan Launch Control, and eventually transferring to Vanderburg AFB as Director of Operations for the Space and Missile Test organization. After a nearly 30-year career in the US Air Force, David retired to a position with the Titan missile program at Cape Canaveral with Martin Marietta Corp [now Lockheed Martin]. He would continue his Aerospace career for Titan and Atlas missiles for 19 years at Lockheed Martin before retiring in 2001.
David was a singer in the USAF Airmen’s Chorus and his church choir. He was also a gifted artist creating pen and ink, acrylics pallet work, and profoundly talented in realism pastel work. He created original pieces and would copy masters’ work to fine-tune his artistic skill. A seasoned athlete as well, David was a Pan American track competitor and football player in high school, a basketball player during Air Force duty, and a softball player well into his 70s.
David Dwight Kintigh was born August 8, 1934, in Jeanette, Pennsylvania. He married his beloved Ann on August 9, 1956. He will be remembered by his family forever for his compassion to all who have known him, his deep devotion to and love for his family, and the genealogy he so lovingly researched and recorded for his family and history. He leaves this earthly space passing on a legacy of generosity, kindness, and love.
Services will be held on October 7, 2023, beginning at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 11:00 a.m. viewing with services at 12:00 p.m. followed by a procession to celebrate his life at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 US-1, Rockledge, Florida.
