We celebrate the life of Dorothy McAlister and what a long and full life it has been. A life that spanned early years in Oklahoma, followed by a move to New Mexico that started in Hobbs and ended in the mountains of Vallecitos, later to retire in 1993 in Melbourne, Florida.
Dorothy entered the McAlister clan in 1960 when she married Elvin McAlister, Sr. With no children of her own Robert and his brother, Elvin, Jr, (Little Mac) became her family. Both boys were still in high school at the time. There are fond memories of New Year’s Day family gatherings and the famous assembly line made enchiladas that involved the whole family.
Preceded in death by husband, Elvin McAlister, Sr. and stepson, Elvin McAlister, Jr. She is survived by stepson, Robert McAlister; grandson, Sean McAlister and one great grand son.
Most of all Dorothy will be remembered as a loving devoted wife. Elvin was her “sweet boy” and he was quoted in his memoirs “not a day passes that we do not tell each other we love each other”. She is now reunited with him in their heavenly home.
Dorothy your journey is over on this earth, but a new and more beautiful one has just begun with our Lord Jesus Christ.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 3:00pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL.
