Dorothy Rhines, 90, passed away peacefully on May 3rd, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Bobby, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter and dancing.
Born with a natural gift for beauty and creativity, Dorothy lived her life as a true artist. An exceptionally talented painter, interior decorator, and creative spirit, Dorothy had a rare ability to transform the ordinary into something breathtaking. Whether it was a canvas, a room, or a simple moment, she touched everything with elegance and imagination—making the world around her more beautiful, just as she was.
Dorothy also carried a dancer’s soul. She and Bobby shared a love for dancing that became a signature of their relationship—moving through life together with rhythm and joy that inspired everyone around them. Music was so close to her heart, and for decades, she could be found sitting at her organ or playing guitar with her children and grandchildren for hours at a time, sharing her love of music with them. 🌹
She was a devoted mother to Darrell Rhines, Cindy Schuerman, Cheryll McGann, and Chris Lowe, and a loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on not only in her family, but in the beauty she created and the lives she touched so deeply.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Dorothy Corrington, many dear friends and her beloved grandsons, Hudson and Colton.
A celebration of Dorothy’s beautiful life will be held at Florida Memorial Gardens on May 14, 2026 at 11:30am. In honor of her love of art, guests are encouraged to dress as colorfully as the paint on her canvases.
Dorothy’s grace, creativity, and gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, please continue to support local artists and encourage ALL to keep creating. 🎨
