

Edward M. Sears LT. Col. U.S.A.F., Ret., 91, of Melbourne, passed away January 26, 2011. Edward served our nation for 28 years before retiring from the U.S. Air Force as a decorated veteran. Edward was a graduate from what was then the "VPI" now the "VT" in 1942 and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. He attended the Barrage Balloon School in California, and was assigned 3 assignments at the Pentagon. While assigned in France and Germany he was under the command of Gen. Eisenhower. He served in Vietnam under the command of Gen. Westmoreland, NATO assignment in Italy, was part of the 12th Air Rescue Group from 1952-1956 in Germany, as well as being stationed in Hawaii. He was honored for distinguished service in the Florida State Employment Service, a member of Kiwanis and Rotary, American Red Cross volunteer, VA Clinic volunteer.
Edward is survived by his wife of 56 years, Viktoria; daughters, Viktoria and Judy; son, Eddie; and grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 7th at 11:00 am at Florida Memorial Funeral Home with and inurnment to follow at Arlington National Cemetery.
