Elfriede Adriane Elisabeth Raedler, age 89, passed away peacefully at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida. Born in Berlin, Germany, she made her way to Brevard County in September 1964, coming from Hamburg, Germany.
Elfriede dedicated much of her life to the pursuit of knowledge as a librarian, contributing her expertise to the Brevard County Library as a Reference Librarian. She was an active member of various organizations, including the Friends of the Eau Gallie Public Library, the Library Association of Brevard, and the Melbourne Chamber Music Society.
Survived by her sister Irene Quilleux, brother Bernd Birr, and son John Thompson, Elfriede leaves behind a legacy of warmth and wisdom. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert Herman Raedler, and her parents Kurt Birr and Gertrud Kiefer, along with brothers Joachim, Lutz, and Axel Birr.
Cherished grandmother of Riley and Rory Thompson, Elfriede's love extended beyond her professional life into the heart of her family. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from traveling and walking to her appreciation for music, theatre, nature (especially birds), and family reunions.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 5 to 7 pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024 starting at 3 pm, followed by interment on the same day Florida Memorial Gardens .
Donations in Elfriede's memory can be made to the Friends of the Eau Gallie Public Library, the Library Association of Brevard, and the Melbourne Chamber Music Society.
