Frank is survived by his three beloved children Frank David (Keire), Julie, and Kimberly (their mother Margaret), as well as his siblings Virginia Lebo, Arthur Hosley, and Jennifer Givens, and his grandchildren Francesca, Khloe, Alex, Makaylia, and Helena. He will be lovingly remembered by them as well as by his partner of over 25 years Mary Boykin and his extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Leo and Matilda Hosley.
Frank was born in Rochester, New York and moved to Melbourne, Florida in 1952. Frank started at what is now known as L3Harris as a teenager in the mailroom. Thinking he would not be drafted because of his flat feet, Frank took a semester off his college education to work more and save money. Instead, he found himself drafted and headed to Vietnam (apparently the Army did away with that flat feet exception). After returning from his tour in the Vietnam War, Frank spent his forty-year career at Harris working on defense contract management and finance with top security clearances.
In his retirement, as a proud veteran, he focused on veteran’s issues becoming active as a member of VFW Post 4206, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 81, and a founding member of Amvets Post 34. He served in various capacities at those organizations including as membership and finance officer of Post 81 and a member of its Color Guard. Other than his children and grandchildren, nothing gave him more pride than putting out American flags around Melbourne in honor of veterans on days of remembrance. He was also active on the Melbourne Arts Festival Committee for many years. Frank was a proud Vietnam veteran and we were proud of him for his service to the country and, of course, for being our dad. Always the first to hit the dance floor, we know he is now lighting up the dance floors of heaven.
A celebration of life will take place in the near future and this page will be updated with those details.
As our beloved father was always the first to give freely to someone in need, please honor him with a donation to National Veterans Homeless Support Inc. in lieu of flowers at NVHS.org.
