Frank Orlady, passed away on April 19, 2024 at the age of 95. He was born on April 24, 1928 to Vernelia and George Orlady on a small farm in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Frank’s mother passed away when he was just 9 years old and he went to live with his sister and brother-in-law, Jeannie and Forest Nutter of Rice Lake, Wisconsin. He also visited his father in Detroit, Michigan.
After graduating from high school, Frank joined the Marine Corps and served 4 years. He left the military for a short time before joining the Army, where he dedicated 17 years of service to his country. While stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he met the love of his life, Hazel. They married shortly after on February 7, 1959 in Dixon, Missouri. They eventually moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. He was deployed for a year in Korea. When he returned, they moved to Fort Lee, Virginia, where they stayed until he retired in 1968. Throughout his military career, Frank also served in China, Guam and Germany. After his retirement from the military, Frank and Hazel decided to call Florida their forever home. After a short time, Frank embarked on a new career path as an Occupational Therapist with Easter Seals, where he worked for 20 years.
Frank and Hazel were married 65 years and raised 3 children. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed traveling to Wisconsin and Illinois to visit relatives. At home, he enjoyed spending time tending to his lawn and garden, feeding birds and squirrels, and taking his dog Bailey for walks. He was friendly and generous, always waving to everyone walking or driving by and lending a helping hand to those in need. Frank and Hazel have been members of the Calvary Baptist Church for several years, where they enjoyed getting to know their fellow members.
Frank is survived by his wife, Hazel; 3 children, Diane (Tony) Houyouse, Brenda Neeves, and Kevin (Andrea) Orlady. Frank also had 4 grandchildren, Jamie and Nick Hampton, Mathew Houyouse, Amber Neeves and Michael Ryan. Additionally, he had 2 great-grandchildren Zander Hampton and Bryce Hampton along with many nieces and nephews.
Frank was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him, he will be deeply missed.
A visitation for Frank will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 2980 North Wickham Road, Melbourne, Florida, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM.
