Gertrude A. Flaugher

Gertie was born in Pueblo, Colorado on February 19, 1923 and lived in Springfield, Missouri, Athens, Columbus, and Springfield, Ohio before moving to Melbourne, Florida in 1985.

Keeping in touch with her somewhat large family and many friends was one thing she loved. The family called her their information hub! She loved to cook and was great at it. Her chicken and homemade noodles were well known around the churches that she and Dad were a part of.

Gertie was always baking a pie, cake, or cookies for the grandkids, but their favorite was Grandma’s Sweet Pickles. She would get the largest jars she could so they would have plenty. Her granddaughter wants to know, “Who is going to make the pickles now?”

She and Ken were very involved in their churches. First church of the Nazarene in Springfield, Ohio, Hillsboro, Ohio, and Melbourne, Florida.

She was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

She is survived by her son, Gary Flaugher (Diane); her daughter, Carolyn Brannon (Wayne); 4 grandchildren, Chad Flaugher (Mandy), David Harris, Angela Earl, and Krista Speece (Josh); 13 great-grandchildren, Logan (Jessica), Camden, Graden, Hudson, Nolan, Haiden, MaKenna, Brayden, Jarrett, Brayton, Sarah, Olivia, and Michael; and 4 great-great grandchildren, Layken, Savanna, Haley, and Parker.

We will miss you Gertie and lovingly wait until we see you again in Heaven.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida, for a public viewing for Gertrude followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
