Inge Sherman, age 77, of Melbourne, FL passed away in Rockledge, FL, June 23, 2020. Born in Ludweiler, Germany, she and Larry were married March 15, 1975 shortly after completion of his final overseas assignment and subsequent move to Patrick AFB. She became a homemaker and a former member of the NCO Wives Club at Patrick AFB in the 1970s, when the family resided in base housing. She was the most loving and compassionate wife, mother and grandmother and loyal friend to many.
She had an exceptional sense of function, style and color. She would often see something in her extensive collection of “do-it-yourself” and “how to” books and magazines that would inspire her to attempt to duplicate it. Her many paintings are proof of her amazing artistic ability. The family was blessed with a fantastic cook. She spent many hours on her computer searching for recipes that appealed to her. She would then prepare the dish and rate the recipes she liked as good or very good and save them in a very organized computer file. Inge was a meticulous housekeeper – no dust or grime allowed in her house. Larry said she truly turned our house into a warm and comfortable home.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence S. Sherman (Larry); sons and daughter in law, Thomas L. Shook (Lyn) and Terry L. Shook with many relatives in Germany including sisters, Isolde (Roland) and Carmen; brother, Dieter; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; granddaughters, Jenay S. Thomson (Colin) currently on assignment in Singapore and Danielle Shook of Seattle, WA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Elisabetha Illy; brother in law, Gerd Willems and former spouse, Charles Shook.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020 starting at 11:00 am at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL with internment to follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to may send a donation in Inge’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or to an Animal Shelter of their choice.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Manatee Team of Hospice at St. Francis. Your loving care with Inge is so very appreciated.
