A graduate of Neshaminy High School, she always knew that she wanted to be a nurse. She enrolled and graduated from the Mercer Hospital School of Nursing in Trenton, NJ and continued her education earning a Bachelor’s degree at St. Joseph’s College in Maine. While with friends, she met her future husband, Kendrick water skiing in the Delaware River and Washington’s Crossing, PA. They married on October 9, 1954 and were married until his passing in 2015 after celebrating 60 years of marriage. They resided in Langhorne, PA until August 1970 when they moved to Merritt Island, FL. She worked for Dr. Norman F. Fain in Melbourne for 25 years until retirement.
She was involved in many activities including her church, the Meri-Twirlers square dancing club, band parents, going to the theater, golf and watching sports.
She was a dedicated wife and nurse to Ken in his latter years. Always by his side, she was an example of steadfast love. They are together again.
She is survived by sons, James (Helen) of Raleigh, NC, and Richard of Winston-Salem, NC; daughter, Nancy Fairbanks (Rodney) of Melbourne; granddaughter, Tiffany Peters (Ben) of Melbourne; grandsons, Scott (Natalie) of Durham, NC and Samuel (Aly) of Charlotte, NC; great-grandson, Deacon Peters. Additionally, brothers, Bob Stout (Madeleine) of Delta, BC, Bill Stout (Jackie) of Langhorne, PA; sister, Diane Stout of Langhorne, PA. and sister-in-law; Eileen Stout of Warminster, PA. She was a beloved aunt to 10 nieces and nephews and a friend to all. She was predeceased by her older brother Ernest.
There will be a Visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL with services at 2:00 pm followed by graveside services, then refreshments at the Life Event Center.
