Born in Akron, Ohio, Kevin spent his childhood being an active child, engaging in basketball, football, and fishing. His family then relocated to Melbourne. Here in the Florida sunshine, he continued his athletic journey into high school, adding track and field to the roster. One of his first experiences with leadership was when he became captain of the Eau Gallie High School basketball team. He enjoyed sports throughout his life.
Kevin joined the Airforce at the age of 21 and served his country for 20 years. His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Meritorious Unit Award, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device with five oak leaf clusters, AF Good Conduct Medal with six oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with one service star.
After a long and distinguished career with the United States Air Force, Kevin retired to begin his second career in Industrial Security and soon after, joined L3Harris Technologies. He achieved his bachelor’s degree with honors in Security Management and went on to become Director of Security, Intel and Cyber Sector.
Kevin was a disciple of servant leadership and made sure the teams needs were put before his own. He led by example, had excellent strategic vision, an incredibly strong work ethic. No task was ever too large or small, ready at moment’s notice to step in and remain on station to see the task to completion. He was someone you could count on for help regardless of the time or the situation. In short, he was the quintessential Patriot, Husband, Father and Friend.
Kevin is greatly missed by his loving Mother Judy Lewellen, his wife Shirley, two daughters; Judy and Shirley and son; Kevin, Jr. He will forever be remembered by his extended family, friends and coworkers.
In his short but full life, Kevin made more of an impact in a day than some people do in a lifetime. His passion for life was a beacon of positivity and hope to all who met him. He will be dearly missed, and his influence and contributions will live on through all that had the privilege of knowing him.
