Lora and Charlie built a wonderful family. They had three children: Carol (Pat), Robert (Anjali) and Steven (Sophia), nine grandchildren: Alyson, Brian, Emily, Julie, Erin, Jared, Melissa, Rebecca, and Joel, and twenty-eight great grandchildren: Greg, Grace, Quinn, Joe, Abigail, Hailey, Brandon, Josh, Jack, Danny, Mark, Jake, Ben, Mikayla, Madelyn, Mason, Molly, Aminadav, Raanan, Reuel, Rehaya, Oliver, Theo, Elliott, Jimmy, Louis, Cameron, and a boy arriving in July.
Born in Hattingen, Germany in 1930, Lora emigrated to the United States in 1937. She grew up in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan in New York City. She and Charlie started dating in 1948 and married June 8, 1952. They moved to the growing suburb of Queens where they raised their family and built their general contracting business. Many of the structures they built stand today, including the terminal at MacArthur Airport, the labs at Brookhaven, and the Mikvahs in Kew Gardens Hills and Crown Heights.
In addition to dedicating herself to raising her three children, Lora worked for the NYC Board of Education as an administrator for the school breakfast program. Upon retirement in the early 1990’s, Lora and Charlie traveled the world and moved to Naples, Florida, where they lived a full life for over 30 years. Following Charlie’s death in 2024, Lora moved to Viera, Florida to reside with Carol and live closer to two of her grandchildren and seven of her great grandchildren. She was well cared for and loved by several caretakers, most notably Margot Gonzaga.
The family invites you to join us for the funeral service on Wednesday February 26 at 10:00 AM at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 US-1 Rockledge, Florida.
