Marc Gaskins, Sr.

He was born to Loris and Edna Gaskins on August 22, 1947 in Charleston, South Carolina and came to Brevard County in 1958. He served this country as a member of the US Navy. After his enlistment, he worked for TRW and then Harris Semiconductor. While working at Harris, he also got his general contractors license and built his own house. He then decided on a career change and started his own business, Gaskins Construction, building houses for others. After several years of this, he decided on another career change and became one of the oldest people to ever graduate from the police academy, and eventually retired as a Melbourne Beach police officer.

He loved being outside and staying active. If he wasn’t weightlifting or playing softball, he was outside doing yard work, growing his mangos, or spreading his truckloads of mulch around his flowerbeds. He also very much enjoyed physically helping people in any way that he could.

Marc is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley. He is survived by his sons; Robert and Marc Jr., and his grandchildren; Alysha, Justin, Eliana, and Emery.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL on Saturday, July 15, 2023 with a gathering of friends and family at 10am, and a celebration of life service following at 11am.
