

Robert Joel Nave of Cocoa, FL passed away at home on Monday, June 2, 2014 at the age of 93. For several months, he had shared with his family that he felt that his time on this earth was drawing to a close. He was looking forward to moving on to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island.
Robert was born in Butler, TN. In 1963 Robert relocated to Brevard County, FL from Elizabethton, TN. He worked for Foremost Dairy, the Kennedy Space Center and retired from Sears. He was also a proud World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps.
Bob was affectionately referred to as “Colonel Bogey” by friend Jay Clark. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, Vera Marie Parker Nave. They were married 63 years when Vera died in 2007. Bob is survived by his daughter, Jennifer McClam and husband, Brad; his son, Jeffrey Nave and wife, Mary. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, including Matthew (Allison) McClam; Joshua (Carla) McClam; Rachel Hobgood and Rebekah (Jesse) Rendell. Robert leaves behind 7 great-grandchildren including McKayla and Braden McClam; Rylan and Madison McClam; Genevieve Hobgood as well as Dean and Rosalind Rendell. He also has two surviving sisters, Florence Garrison Tucker and Anna Lou Burleson in Elizabethton, TN.
Bob was an avid golfer for over 70 years. He enjoyed bowling in the church league and watching many sports. He was a lover of his Lord, his family, anything Disney, and the Tennessee Vols.
A funeral service for Robert will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island, 140 Magnolia Ave, Merritt Island, FL 32952.
