Ronald Leon Raphael

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shaney; his parents, Morton and Frieda; and his sister, Lois. Born and raised in Amsterdam, New York, Ron later attended Purdue University, where he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He enjoyed a distinguished 44 year career with Lockheed Missiles and Space. His work began in Southern California and eventually brought him to Sunnyvale, California, near Moffett Field. In 1993, Ron relocated with his family to Cape Canaveral, Florida, where he continued his service with the Fleet Ballistic Missile Program and built a long, fulfilling life.

Ron embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved skiing—both on snow and water—was an avid golfer, and found joy in fishing. His sense of adventure and appreciation for the outdoors were constants throughout his life.

Ron is survived by his sister, Lakey Raphael Underwood (Ken Putnam); his step daughters, Leslie Sanchez and Cori Pribyl (Jeff); his partner, Robin Jones; his sister-in-law Fagie Rosen; and his grandchildren, Phillip, Jonathan, Meriya, and Jack. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s name to any of the following organizations: the Parkinson’s Foundation, Brevard Humane Society, USO, Holy Land Tree, or the Leukemia Foundation.
