

Sandy was a dedicated wife and mother of three. She is survived by her loving husband Harold Newsome of Cocoa, Florida, daughter Jennifer Newsome of Huntsville, Alabama, brother Larry Moore of Aubrey, Texas, brother-in-law Rick Newsome of Rockledge, Florida, niece Rachael Zimmerman of Richmond, Virginia and grandchildren Adora and Zach. She is preceded in death by her daughter Dayna Newsome, son Andy Newsome, parents Cecil and Dorothy Moore, in-laws Elmo and Kitty Newsome, brother-in-law Jeffry Newsome and nephew Adam Newsome.
Sandy was born in Santa Ana, California April 2, 1945, and as a child of a military family she moved all over the United States and also lived in England. Her father spent his career in the Air Force and through him she met her husband of 60 years, Harold. After marrying in California and having their first child they moved to Florida in 1968. She was a career educator for over 40 years within the Brevard County area. She had a love and natural gift for teaching special education and as such was the Brevard County Teacher of the Year 1996-1997. Sandy was active in her church, First Baptist Church - Rockledge and also enjoyed teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) within the church after retirement from the school system. Sandy will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church – Rockledge (1810 Cedar St., Rockledge, FL 32955). Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Florida Memorial Gardens (5950 US-1, Rockledge, FL) immediately following the funeral. A reception will be offered at the church following the interment.
