He served on the USS Iowa battleship during WWII before he even met my Mom. Theirs is a great love story and they were so lucky to find each other so early in life. They married in 1947 and 9 months later Helen Booth Cox was born. Betty Booth Spray followed 4 years later and then Dottie Booth Bush followed 1-1/2 years after her. Dad was a great husband and father and worked very hard to provide for his family. We weren't rich by any means (Mom was a stay-at-home mom) but we never lacked for anything. Dad worked and retired from RCA in Florida as an electronic technician at Patrick Air Force Base in a civilian capacity. He also had a second job in his own business as a home TV repair man back when TVs used vacuum tubes! Dad was a very quiet, gentle and humble man. In a family of 4 females, and he the only male, he probably found it hard to be heard so he just sat back and listened. He was a great listener! Most often you could find him seated in the family room reading his Bible. He was also a great walker after he retired and before the arthritis set in and forced him to quit. In the last couple of years Dad was afflicted with Alzheimer's and it was so hard to watch him slowly dwindle away. Our family will miss him terribly as his presence was part of the fabric of our everyday lives. We will always remember you Dad, until we meet again in Heaven! You are so loved!
Sidney is survived by his daughters, Helen Cox, Dorothy Bush and Betty Spray, his brother William Booth, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
A visitation is scheduled Monday, December 14, 2015 from 2:00 to 3:00pm with a funeral service following at 3:00 pm in the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL.
