I just heard of Ruth's passing. Growing up a friend of Jill's I have the best memories of her. She was kind, patient and smart. My deepest sympathies to the family- Armand, Jill, Alison and Missy, Marci Taylor gutmann

As one of the first models in our 2008 CFTC calendar, Ruth was a pioneer of our "faces of women's cancer" concept that we brought to the public.  You had boundless energy and a determination not to allow cancer to define you.

You became a member of our family and we will truly miss you each and every day.  May you be cancer-free wherever the road takes you next.
Critters For The Cure

It was a joy to work with Ruth at Northwest.  Her love and concern for kids was so evident, she immediately established trust with all.  I owe her lots of thanks for her loyalty and support in making for our successful new school.

It was an honor to work with Ruth and how lucky we were that she was our younger daughter's counseler @ Kennedy HS.  She fought the good fight and will not be forgotten.

Ruth's smile lit up the hallways of Churchill High School.  She made everyone around her feel so wonderful.  She will be truly missed by all.

I worked with Ruth as a signature program coordinator at Wootton while Ruth was first establishing the signature program at Churchill.  What a warm, bright, focused educator!  She knew how to make things happen and how to lead with her sunny, determined personality.  I was so sad to hear of her death.  Please accept my deepest condolences.  She will be missed by so many more people than you can even imagine!

Mrs. Checker was one of the most kindhearted people I know. She had the most genuine smile and someone whom I always felt I could talk about anything. I have been honored to have known such a great person and I know many from my high school alma mater could say the same. We've been beyond lucky to have had the company of such a beautiful human being. We'll miss you Mrs. Checker. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend/mother.

Ruth was the ultimate special educator. She extended herself above and beyond to those students and staff to enable them to be their best. A legend in her own time. I feel fortunate to have shared some working time with her. May her memory be a blessing for us all. My family and I will perform acts of charity in her memory.

She was truly a wonderful person and will always be remembered.

Mrs. Checker was a strong sweet force in all of her students' lives.  She had a heart full of room (and let's not forget unending patience)for every one of us. My deepest condolences to her family.

Mrs. Checker was a singularly amazing and memorable woman.  She guided me through my transition from high school to college; her recommendation helped get me into the Montgomery Scholars Program.  I gave her a huge hershey bar and a blockbuster gift card for her help.  I can still remember her smile.  All my best to the family!

I am so sorry for your loss. Ruth was an amazing woman and touched the lives of all of us who knew her. I will always remember her for her wit, charm, strength and warmth. She will be deeply missed. I feel truly lucky I was able to participate in her care.

You took me under your wing when I was a neighbor, and you loved my wife and children - well, more than me!  You always had a smile on your face and laughter in your heart.  Allie, Samantha, Julie, and I miss you dearly.

I am so saddened to learn of
