Arlene Alice Darick, born December 29, 1951, left us on July 24, 2021. She was home, with her loving husband of 36 years, Les, by her side. Arlene earned her Masters in Social Work from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. She began her life of service to others in the Peace Corps serving in Ethiopia and Thailand. Her time in the Peace Corps instilled in Arlene a belief that all people are created equal. She said, “we all bleed and we all cry”. After her time in the Peace Corps, Arlene dedicated most of her career serving corporate America as a Social Worker. After retirement, Arlene continued to serve by working with the military, helping soldiers overcome their anxiety from time in combat. Arlene was also very generous in her volunteering with many causes including: Habitat for Humanity, God’s Pantry, reading to elementary school children, and more. Upon diagnosis with Pancreatic Cancer, Arlene fought her own personal battle, yet she continued to serve helping other Pancreatic Cancer patients through their uncertain times with the same disease. Arlene dedicated her life helping others with an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. Arlene made a difference in this world; she is loved and will be missed.
No flowers are necessary. Instead, we encourage you to keep Arlene’s generous spirit alive by donating to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. www.pancan.org/donate
